Leadership Demands
By Karen McGuire in on March 16, 2011
The demands of servant leadership left even Jesus depleted at times. He frequently retreated to find refreshment, drawing apart to spend time with His Father, His disciples and His close friends. He offered living water to the crowds at the feast and to the Samaritan woman, water that would quench thirst and refresh weary souls. What or who do you turn to when you are weary? How do you find rest and refreshment for your soul?
How precious is your unfailing love, O God! All humanity finds shelter in the shadow of your wings. You feed them from the abundance of your own house, letting them drink from your river of delights. For you are the fountain of life, the light by which we see.—Psalm 36:7-9
Prayer: Jesus, thank You for Your example of drawing away to find rest and refreshment in the midst of leadership demands. Thank You, too, for offering us living water, and for the hope and encouragement of the words of Scripture. Refresh my soul today, quench my thirst, give me strength so I can lead like You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
